Mimic You Dumasara | Chau | Adelaide October 1896 Dumasara was in a hurry, as she often was. She carried only a small bag of supplies today, and was making a brisk trip back to her office, cloak fluttering behind her. She took a byway into the gardens; the streets weren’t particularly busy, but the gardens were even less so, and she didn’t want to deal with crowds right now. It was with some dismay that she noticed someone was tailing her, after a while. They weren’t even trying to be subtle about it, either, matching her step for step just a ways back. When she finally stopped to confront them, they said nothing in return except what she’d said to them. After being parroted for a few moments, she sighed in exasperation. She just needed to get back to her study and finish her work, really, as quickly as possible. She shook her head, turned, and carried on. So did her follower. This grated more and more on her nerves as she tried multiple times to shoo off her following mimic
It was strange to walk the streets with a blade concealed in her coat. Every few steps she tightened the belt to keep her coat nice and snug around her, as if it might fall out if she weren't careful. And really, it might. It was heavy steel and bigger than she would like. She caught a glimpse of herself in a shop window and sucked the air in through her teeth. She looked quite ridiculous.

Responsible. Tiago was trying to be responsible.
That was a little hard to do when getting involved in a cold murder case, but he was trying. Looking for people who might have actually been involved wasn’t exactly safe, as was tracking down anything that might still be owned by a possible perpetrator…
It didn’t take them long to find somewhere that looked like a good spot on the edge of the Souq, not far from a large spice house. The market here was busy, but not as chaotic as some of the smaller strings of stalls and sellers on the off-branching roads and alleys.
It most certainly didn’t smell like fish, either; anything but, really. The array of scents and colors around them was dizzying and heady, in a good way, and gave Tiago an optimistic outlook.
“How about here?”
Tristine accepted a seat gratefully, then braced her hands on her knees and fixed both bedraggled prisoners with tired eyes.
“I’d like you to tell me why you were there, this morning,” she said at length. “You, specifically. What brought you.”
