Artist's Comments

I didn't think this warranted a mature content filter.

Anyway, yeah, it's sad to find robins who get hit by cars. But the artist in me also can't resist. Animal rights people: it was already dead. And burying things in dirt actually isn't that flattering once you get past the cultural-expectancy of it.

Micron and limited pallette watercolor, with some white gouache (cue purist flaming). About two hours, overall. 8.5 x 11

And, as gross as it is, I'm trying to dry it so I can do more wing studies. My sisters think I'm gross. You probably do too. :)

Image (C) Myself, blah blah blah.

Any good artist knows that everything isn't always sunshine and rainbows - and I applaud you for taking the time to study nature in it's less fortunate aspects!

Very nice job by the way. :D

I don't think it's gross, because unfortunately I did the same thing my whole childhood xD I still have some dried bird's wings, legs, and a skull [all from already dead birds] that I used to study with.

This drawing captures so much life and vibrancy, as ironic as that seems xD

i think it's good that ur using an already dead bird to do studies than killing one or puchasing one that was killed. power to ya hun *hi fives*

Good art takes a long time, great art takes forever and a day
The feathers and details came out great. Wings are bitches, what can I say?
Don't feel weird....when animals aren't mashed to a pulp...like this bird...there is a hidden beauty in them, a beauty of a life lived to the fullest...so yeah...I'm a lil weird too I guess...but kudos on this pic hun. It is rendered beautifuly

Remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot

I love this..the anatomy is like..perfecto.

I might be biased though..robins are my current favorite bird..hah? I see them everywhere..and I'm always wondering why I never see any being hit by cars, considering how they fly out right across the road and all that.
Beautiful work! I really should try watercolors again some time.
That's what Beatrix Potter did growing up. that's really cool!

you're a very good artist!
but....... :'( dead bird!!!!! bouuuuuh :'(
Dead things are not gross. Well, they can be when they start to putrefy. I pick up dead things all the time, draw them, skin them, bury them and dig up he bones later.

This is really nice.
