Oil Extinction

Description

This piece gets remarked on more than I give it credit for; it's kind of the stepchild of my portfolio--it's been on my website for a solid two years now, but I've never uploaded it here (unless I accidentally put it somewhere I can't readily find...which is possible...) I suppose probably because I'm not entirely sure where it came from, but the idea had been with me for quite some time before I actually made it. I don't usually do political-y stuff, but here we go!

Anyway, my overextended metaphor goes thusly: Megaloceros (or the Irish Elk, as it's more commonly called) are believed to have gone extinct because of their impressive but unwieldily antlers making it difficult for them to flee predators. So...dependence on oil makes for a bustling civilization, but the over-dependence crash is bound to come. Or something like that.

Incidentally: this was done roughly the same time as those real-media mimic horses like cloud-horse and wood unicorn and the embroidery one. This one was mimicking silkscreen halftone dot prints.
