What was I thinking when I started this? "Oh, maybe it'll be fun to do an entirely mouse drawn picture and see if I can make it as cool as a tablet picture" GRAR! This took forever I can't believe I actually stuck it out and finished it. No beginning sketch, no nothin! Come to think of it I don't think I've -ever- done a complete mouse drawn picture without a tablet...I've always had a sketch or a scan. Crazy. Makes a nice desktop though.
Anyway, 'bout the pic: Tis Frost, about to kick some butt...just who's I don't know. And again, we're back to the frozen lake theme...
'bout the no-pupilness, its cuz she's using her posers duh and it looks cool all glowy and stuff.
Okay, Critiques, I enjoy critique much! Though for this picture, I'm prety much not going to change anything on it. But please do critique the pose/anatomy and such, I espescially value observations from those who actually own or work with horses. For starters, I know the right hind foot is...wrong. yeah.
THe right foreleg is wrong. The elbow seems too far to the side, like not enough below the shoulder, and the wrist doesn't seem long enough.
But, this IS beautiful. o_o I love the ice under her hoof and the snow and the wings, and her glowy eyes... and the look of movement. this is awesome. +fav for surely. >>;
The only thing that I see a little misplaced is the horse's foreleg that is on the ground. She looks a little off balance and from what I've gathered from watching horse's canter toward's me, is that if they place their foot down like that, they'll most likely trip, and since this character is on ice; they'd slip and slide. ~_^
Other than that I think it looks great. Keep up the gorgeous art!
Hey Starhorse, It's been a while since I had been able to comment on your drawings. The drawing came out really good, it looks like it was drawn with a tablet. You did a good job wiht the shading. Did you use the same "Multiply" shading technique as in the other drawing (frosty was it?). Becuase I just stumbled on that technique in a tutorial a few days ago, it's an interesting way of shading, I hope to try it out soon. The pose came out really considering that is a hard pose IMO.
As for the anatomy It seems that the neck is a bit weird. The neck seems to be bent and the line that represents the middle seems looks like the other side of the neck. You might be missing a small line on his left side of the neck (I suck at explaining right? Try to look at it full screen, you might see what I mean, but it is subtle). I have been studying an animal anatomy book and, as someone said, the legs don't look too correct IF you are aiming for a realistic look (but it all depends on what YOUR style is and what YOU like to draw. DOn't go around channging what you like to draw jsut becuase it isn't realstic ) For one thing they could use more muscle and like someone said before, the character might need more "knee". The wings look like they are not in level with the rest of the character, they look like they are a slightly exagerated foward angle.
Overall you did a tremendous job, congrats!
PS: Sorry for any misspellings, kind of in a hurry.
